New Construction Association President Names Green Technology as Top Priority
Chicagoland construction executive John C. Lindemulder, Sr., has been elected by SMACNA National as president of the board of directors, and according to Lindemulder, green technology will be a top priority during his administration.
Lindemulder’s term in office began October 14, 2009, at the close of SMACNA’s 66th annual convention. Lindemulder, who lives in Dyer, IN, currently works as a project manager for Amber Mechanical Contractors, Inc., in Alsip, IL. He started working with Amber Mechanical Contractors in 1967, and in 1971, he acquired the company. His son John Lindemulder, Jr., now serves as president.
“This year,” says Lindemulder, “I have the honour of guiding SMACNA’s strategic plan to establish the association and its members as leaders in sustainable technology. Achieving leadership in this growing market will result in new business opportunities for SMACNA members.”
Lindemulder stated that advancing the effectiveness of sustainable technology will be a high priority during his term of office as president of SMACNA. “There are still a lot of people who don’t totally understand the purpose of sustainable technology,” he says. “There’s much more to it than just the recognition that goes with going green.”
Sustainable technology needs to make economical sense for the companies that use it, he added, if it is to succeed in the long run. “It must be individualized to a company’s needs. There are no cookie-cutter solutions. Green responsibility and fiscal responsibility need to be effectively balanced, and we will be developing a long-range plan to help our contractor members to offer sustainable technology that is truly sustainable.”
Lindemulder says he looks forward to his new role with the national association. “These are exciting times for our industry,” he says.
