Contractors Offered Tool To Assist With Employee Personal Issues

At the SMACNA-BC Membership Dinner meeting on Oct. 19, Larissa Oproescu presented a new, free counselling benefit for employers and certain referred managers/supervisors. The tool, known as Expert-Aide, is offered by Standard Life and Homewood Human Solutions (HHS).

The Expert-Aide Manager Assistance Program gives employers tools and resources to effectively manage workplace issues and reach those employees who need additional support.

As a part of long-term disability benefits, Expert-Aide helps employers deal with the challenges they may face as managers. It also lets employers refer employees who are facing difficulties accessing confidential counselling and support services.

A simple phone call puts referred employees in touch with professional counsellors who can help them deal with family matters, mental health concerns, addictions, and/or work-related difficulties such as professional burnout, workplace stress, and job dissatisfaction. Expert-Aide also covers personal problems such as grief, bereavement, stress, isolation, anger, and low self-esteem.

SMACNA-BC, in partnership with the SMWIA Local Union No. 280 Health Benefits & Pension Plans, is in the planning stages of hosting future Expert-Aide presentations. Watch your inbox for details of upcoming events.
