For almost three decades Fred Hofferd and his wife Vonda have been building Prince George based C.C. Industries into Northern BC's largest and most verastile aluminum fabricator and industrial HVAC manufacturing contractor. This unprecedented growth is due to a commitment to "Quality First" workmanship.

Their highly skilled team members understand that customer service has to come first in such a specialized field. While C.C. Industries is known across Northern BC for it's pulp and sawmill HVAC and dust collection expertise, it's their overall versatility that Hofferd is most proud of. From a small toolbox to a major pulp mill project, everything that leaves the 22,000 square foot plant has the C.C. Industries stamp of quality.

C.C. Industries' focus on sawmills and pulp mills is lead by Head Designer/Estimator Glenn Phillips. With over forty years experience, Phillips' knowledge of the intricate workings of this industry is utilized by all levels in the mill and mining sector. In the north C.C. Industries' clients include Canfor and it's affiliates, Pope & Talbot and Abitibi Consolidated to name a few. On any given day the C.C. facility will have a number of industrial projects in different stages of completion. You'll find in production anything from stainless steel material handling fans, to sound enclosures to 16-foot cyclones with required blow pipe. These projects are orchestrated by Norm Hofferd, Fred's brother, manufactured under the supervision of James Tasa and then installed by Field Supervisor, Maynard Satrum and his various crews.

C.C. Industries also specializes in custom projects: an intricate sign for the Harley Davidson dealership, elaborate swim grids and railing systems for marine vessels and multi-drawered cabinets for service trucks. The products the design team can create are only limited by one's imagination.

In 1981 C.C. Industries created a sister company, C.C. Recreation Ltd. to meet the growing demand for aluminum vehicle accessories. From a single set of truck running boards they are now a market leader in the manufacturing of tool boxes, fuel tanks, box liners, cab guards and rails, boat racks and a multitude of other aluminum products. These accessories are then shipped through the company's distribution system right across western Canada. The product line continues to expand under the direction of Dale Netrefa. Hofferd notes, "We started with a few sheets of aluminum and we are now one the largest consumers of aluminum checker plate in Canada. It's not uncommon for a semi to pull in with a shipment of over 90,000 pounds of metal."

Both C.C. Industries and C.C. Recreation are run out of the same Prince George location with a combined workforce of between 25 and 30 full-time employees. Hofferd says, "Thirty to 40 percent of the employees started with the company as apprentices and have worked here since day one. They've been an integral part of our company's success. I've never professed to be the best on the tools by any means, but I did have, I think, the knowledge to put the right people in the right places where they can excel."

C.C. Industries is a long-term member of SMACNA. This partnership has benefited both the company and employees throughout the years. SMACNA's programs and technical support has enabled C.C. Industries to stay abreast of an ever changing market place. C.C. Industries prides itself on meeting and exceeding all SMACNA's standards, which is evident in the company's quality products.

When asked about where the company is headed, Hofferd says the future is bright. With the expanding northern economy he plans to keep the company growing. In fact, he just recently expanded the manufacturing area by an additional 7,000 square feet. When asked about retirement Fred's response is one of mixed emotion. "We've always been team-oriented, but when I retire I'm confident the new ownership will inherit an experienced staff with the skills and passion to further build this thriving business."
