IAPMO Green Building Supplement Available

The Green Plumbing and Mechanical Code Supplement is now available from the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO). The publication spells out the best sustainable plumbing and mechanical building practices in simple, straightforward code language. SMACNA was a contributing member in the development of this supplement that will assist SMACNA members in California where this code will be widely used. The green supplement will complement IAPMO’s Uniform Codes, or any other adopted plumbing and mechanical code, by introducing additional language pertaining to water and energy efficiency, HVAC system commissioning, the use of alternate water sources, such as grey water and harvested rainwater, and increased indoor environmental quality. IAPMO’s involvement in sustainable initiatives predates current trends, as the Uniform Codes have long included provisions for water-efficient plumbing products, grey water and reclaimed water systems, solar energy systems, and environmentally friendly refrigerants.

The cost for the manual is $60, which can be ordered in the publications section of www.iapmo.org.
