SMACNA contributes to key ICC code development process

SMACNA participated in a recent meeting with the International Code Council (ICC) and several Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs) to discuss how revisions to the Council’s code development process have impacted the standards developing community and how the future of code development and digital technology will impact the industry.

The meeting focused on solutions to co-ordinate standards updates and changes with ICC’s next code development cycle. The meeting also focused on digital content delivery, which is changing the way codes and standards are delivered, and opportunities to partner to provide quality products.

Among several SDOs participating were the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
